Inspiration of the Day - Z.L. FENG -

Z.L. FENG growing up in Shanghai, began painting at age seven and never stopped, experimenting with different mediums, including pastel, oil, and egg tempera, before choosing his favorite, watercolor. “With watercolor you cannot cover your mistakes, so you must know what you are doing,” he says.

Feng’s artwork can be found in numerous private and corporate collections, including Walt Disney, the U.S. Gulfstream Aerospace Center, and Orlando International Airport as well as the permanent collections of the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Missouri, and the Radford University Art Museum.

MICHAEL JEFFERY is an Australian artist, was born in 1965, Adelaide SA. Graduated from Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours), University of South Australia, Underdale Campus, Adelaide SA. Michael Jeffrey's work can be found in numerous private collections throughout Australia as well as the Hamilton Regional Art Gallery in Victoria.

Artist's Statement :

"My work is a response to industrialized society and the urban landscape. I try to paint its visual character as it appears to me, its business, stress and haste, activity and excitement, pollution and noise, its natural sterility, the power it possesses and its hunger for more. I think my work is influenced just as much by what I observe in the streets, perhaps more, as from other artists".

NICK GENTRY is a British graduate of Central St Martins and has exhibited in the UK, USA and Europe. As part of a generation that grew up surrounded by floppy disks, VHS tapes, polaroids and cassettes, he is inspired by the sociological impact of a new internet culture, that he use as the media for his paintings.

LEONID AFREMOV was born in city of Vitebsk in 1955. Leonid Afremov graduated from Vitebsk Art School in 1978 and is one of the elite members.

SILVIA PELISSERO is a young artist from Rome, Italy. Pelissero studied at Liceo Artistico Giorgio De Chirico in Rome. Her work area expertise are photomanipulation, multimedia graphic, drawing figurative or abstract, painting figurative or abstract.

Inspiration Of The Day - MICHAEL SHAPCOTT -

MICHAEL SHAPCOTT  studied illustration for two years before switching to fine arts for the remainder of his studies at Paier College of Art in Hamden, Connecticut, graduating in 2007 with a diploma in Fine Arts. He`s  known for his daring color palette and emotionally charged portraits. His work deals with highly detailed graphite underdrawings which he then paints with colorful washes in oil and acrylic paints. He credits his education for basic technical experience but feels that only in breaking some of the traditional methods he was taught and experimenting on his own did he develop the confidence, unique voice and style he continues to expand upon today.

Especially in developing countries, they are a forgotten group, and this is a major problem because these children often lack a social safety net and recidivism is incredibly high. We believe in real and constructive solutions to help these forgotten children participate in and give back to society in a positive way.

Young in Prison (YiP) is a worldwide initiative to give these children in prison a voice and a chance to make a sustainable change in their lives!
